uh, what the hell is this?

i watched the movement video and it looked like an mtv show--like road rules filled with white young hispter kids.

i saw like a second of the "invisible chidlren's" faces.

i am still not sure what the hell they are trying to do.

It's nothing good -- let me tell you. road rules -- "suburban safari," Africa (and not Northern Uganda), the "movement." AARGH.

a few brief images of actual violence aside, most of the "drama" of their presentation came from close, freeze, or time distorted shots of black faces with Enya or whatever playing in the background.

Why is it that instrumental music and blackness = suspense? Meh.

Good intentions? Check. Privileged background and a lack of serious understanding? Check! Production of images that perpetuate stereotypes of Africa? Check. Using all that to offer the prize of "authenticity" to the narrative of self-discovery, the open road, and the "real" youth experience? Yep. It's all here.

Why is it bad for millions of people to discover that they can help change this world and for good to happen during that discovery?
